My Truths #35 (cheating)
Remove the word “cheating” from you vocabulary. If you’ve adopted a way of eating that excludes certain food completely and if your goal is 100% adherence to that “diet” then you are setting yourself up for feelings of guilt. When you “cheat” on your diet you may beat yourself up over your lack of willpower and discipline. I think a better approach is to strive for 80% adherence. This way if you eat something that is not sanctioned on your diet it’s still o.k…it falls in to the 20% flex food you are permitted. No need to feel guilty! It’s all part of the master plan. Just be sure that you are being honest with yourself about that 20% and be wary of trigger foods that might set you off on a binge.
