My Truths #27 (on-line tracking)

by Stephanie

On-line tracking sites can be useful motivation tools. Websites like Mapmyride.com (workout tracking) and livestrong.com/myplate/ (food tracking) are free and easy to use. If you’re the type of person who likes to be held accountable and measure things then these platforms might be just what you need.

Tracking your workouts can be very rewarding…sifting through the stats, tracking your progress towards a goal, sharing your accomplishments with friends on the site or on other social media sites is fun. Just a word of advice… if your friends are fairly sedentary then they probably don’t want to hear about how many km/miles you ran or cycled or how many burpees you did. You might think that you’re motivating them but you’re likely just making them fee lazy and depressed. Stick to bragging about your accomplishments within your community of like-minded individuals. These people will genuinely be excited for you and it may provide that little spark of competition that we all need from time to time. As you can see from the photo below whatever physical activity you enjoy… there’s probably a category for it.
