My Truths #20 (sun)

Get some sun! Who doesn’t love the feel of the sun on their skin? For years I would lather on the SPF 30+ and then sit out on my deck trying to get a “healthy” dose of colour. The fact is the sun wasn’t getting through. I was still pale, coating myself with toxic chemicals and depriving myself of a some good-for-me Vitamin D. Sunscreen has an important role to play in preventing sunburns and skin cancer. If you know you’re going to be outside in the sun for a long period of time then yes… lather up. BUT I also believe there are some health benefits to going outside for short periods of time without sun screen. A bit of a tan can look healthy and yes, even be healthy. Tanning beds? Never!
