My Truths #18 (scales)
What you weight is only one indicator of your leanness. The scales cannot differentiate between fat and muscle. One pound of muscle takes up less room that a pound of fat. Even if you weigh the same as the next person, the person with more muscle will look thinner. Many people say to throw out your scales and instead use measurements, the mirror and your clothes to determine if you’re making progress towards your goal. I say to each her own. I’m not defined by what I weigh but I still like to weigh myself on a regular basis. I have an upper limit and when my scales tell me that I’m under that number it’s a good day. If the number is creeping up then I know it’s time to restrict my carbs even further for a few days.
