Lack of sleep can cause weight gain or stall your weight loss efforts. This is a theory that is gaining mainstream acceptance lately and there’s lots of good research out there to back it up. There are many hormones affected by sleep including leptin and gherelin as well as other naturally occurring compounds like serotonin and melatonin that can really throw your body out of whack if you’re sleep deprived. Aim for 8 hours of quality sleep per night in a dark room to maximize your weight loss efforts.
