My Truths #8 (caffeine)
Too much caffeine can interfere with your weight loss efforts. There are two schools of thought on the effects of caffeine on weight loss. The pro-caffeine side claims that it’s a stimulant which will cause your metabolism to speed up and you’ll burn more calories and since it’s a diuretic it will help you lose water weight (reduce bloating). The anti-caffeine side argues that caffeine has a negative effect on insulin which may drive your body to store body fat. Caffeine may also stimulate appetite and cravings, making weight loss more difficult. I think the advantages (if any) are only temporary and that if you are having trouble losing weight try cutting back on your caffeine.
